Monica’s Style Transformation

R&B singer Monica has come along way from her "Angel of Mine" days and so has her look.
There is no denying this woman has come into her own, totally reinventing herself for the better. Her overall swagger–and might I, add fashion sense–has stepped all the way up. Everything from her hair to her face is beat, and the world is starting to notice. I don't know if her NBA hubby Shannon Brown had anything to do with the transformation, but if he did, I'm not mad at it.
Check out the R&B diva's style evolution through the years. There's one thing for sure, my girl, Monica, has never looked better!
1998: She rocks long black hair and shows off a bit of her feminine side, opting for sheer tops and waist-hugging jeans. 
2004: During her Today Show performance, Monica debuts a bright blonde hair 'do. Although this isn't my favorite hair color on her, I appreciate the fact she was willing to take risks. She's still young and still learning.
2006: Yes, Monica! You better work in that trash bag, girl! This is probably my least favorite outfit choice on Monica. It's all wrong. The two-toned hair is a bit too harsh as well.
2006: Monica lets it all hang out during her 2006 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet appearance. She's wearing a barely-there red, slinky dress, an unusual look for the singer.
2008: Monica walks the red carpet in a not-so-red carpet attire. Yeah, it's the BET Hip Hop Awards, but the over-sized duffle looks like she should be headed to the airport. I love an all black everything look, but Monica's is just poorly accessorized. I will say, she sure does know how to rock a short hairstyle though.
2009: Monica returns to the BET Hip Hop Awards with another black fit, but this time she keeps it classic and sexy with thigh-high boots and a corset paired with an over-sized black blazer. She's learning.
2011: Monica attends the Kardashian Kollection launch in red trousers paired with a striped black and white top. The gold Chanel chain is the perfect staple accessory to finish off the look. Again, her hair is everything! The two-toned brown bob is definitely working for her.
April 2012: Monica shows out in April after a taping for Live with Kelly wearing a silk cropped blazer with black slim trim lapels. She paired this incredibly structured jacket with a pair of Rag & Bone skinny jeans and Giuseppe Zanotti pumps. Let's get into her hair shall we? I'm loving the long curly ombre tresses.
April 2012: Monica exudes sophistication and beauty in this ivory Victoria Beckham dress paired with the 'Lady Daf' Christian Louboutin heels. Again, she's going with the ombre waves, which compliment her beautifully.
May 2012: In a long white cut-out gown and leopard print pumps, Monica steals the show during the Billboard Awards' red carpet. Not to mention, her arm candy (hi, Shannon) is the perfect accessory.
May 2012: The world is in awe after the release of the highly anticipated music video for "It All Belongs To Me" featuring Monica and fellow 90′s R&B singer Brandy. Both Brandy and Monica prove that they are more glamourous and sexy than ever. The standout look comes when Monica sports a gold Balmain jacket with studded Louboutins. Loving it!
July 2012: At this year's BET Awards Monica stuns on the red carpet and on stage. During her emotional tribute to the late Whitney Houston, Monica wears a gorgeous Alexander McQueen-inspired frock. Her makeup is absolutely stunning, showing off her naturally glowing skin.
