Activision Has Acquired Digital Legends To Work On A New Call of Duty Mobile Title

Activision has recently acquired the Barcelona-based studio Digital Legends to work on a new mobile entry in the Call of Duty franchise, as recently announced. The developer is most famous for its work on the Respawnables mobile game as well as the Afterpulse series.

Digital Legends, alongside Beenox and Activision Shangai, has been closely working with an internal team called Solid State on a new Call of Duty game for mobile platforms, although no other details on development or the game itself are known as of yet.

“This is an incredible team of development pros at Digital Legends, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome them to the Activision team,” said Rob Kostich, Activision’s president. “This is a great step forward as we continue to build additional world-class development resources focused on creating exciting and innovative content for our players.”

Call of Duty Mobile has been a major success for the publishing giant in regions such as Asia, with the number of downloads surpassing 500 million worldwide earlier this year. Of course, it makes sense that Activision will capitalize on the potential, and by putting down more resources than ever, it seems the company is doing exactly that.
