No, God of War: Ragnarok is Not the Game’s Official Title

God of War 2

The next God of War game was announced last year, and given how prominently the word “Ragnarok” was featured in its teaser trailer and the game’s central premise, many have been referring to the sequel as God of War: Ragnarok. For Sony’s part, up until now, they have referred to the game only as the sequel to God of War, and have yet to reveal an official name for the title.

Recently, however, in a presentation document for investors, Sony included a logo calling the game God of War: Ragnarok when speaking about upcoming games, and many took that to mean that the game’s title has now been officially decided. That, however, is not the case. Not only did director Cory Barlog promptly take to Twitter to confirm that Ragnarok is not the game’s official title, Sony has also pulled the logo from its presentation and replaced it with a simple God of War logo. The previous logo, it seems, was a fan-made one that Sony bafflingly enough pulled from a simple Google search.

So there you go- God of War: Ragnarok is not the game’s official name. Of course, until we do know what it’s official name is, we’re just going to have to keep calling it that. And given that it doesn’t look like the game is coming any time soon, we’re going to have to wait a while to find out what it’s name actually is.
