BattlEye Anti-Cheat Will Be Supported On Steam Deck Alongside Easy Anti-Cheat

Popular anti-cheat solution BattlEye has now confirmed native support for Valve’s handheld PC, the Steam Deck, with the Proton API. In a recent tweet posted from the official account, BattlEye stated that while the anti-cheat is supported for Linux and Mac, it falls to the developers to put in the work to allow for support.

BattlEye is used by many games, such as PUBG and Destiny 2. Both are quite popular titles, and this announcement is a great step towards ensuring that both of these games are playable on the Steam Deck. This news comes shortly after Epic Games Store announced that EasyAntiCheat would also be adding Linux and Mac as supported platforms in a recent dev update. This should in turn allow some of the most popular games like Apex Legends and Halo: The Master Chief Collection to run on the device.

These developments are great news for both Linux enthusiasts and Steam Deck pre-order customers, who will now have a much larger library of games to choose from at launch. Anti-cheat support was a glaring issue since the reveal of the device, and these two announcements have alleviated arguably the biggest concern – to an extent, of course.

BattlEye has provided native Linux and Mac support for a long time and we can announce that we will also support the upcoming Steam Deck (Proton). This will be done on an opt-in basis with game developers choosing whether they want to allow it or not.
