Xbox Plans on Launching a Streaming Device and Samsung App in the Coming Year – Rumour

It’s common knowledge at this point that streaming has become an important part of Microsoft’s strategy with Xbox, with Xbox Cloud Gaming becoming more and more of a focus for the company as time goes on. With the streaming service already available on mobile devices, Xbox consoles, and PC, it seems it’ll soon expand its scope beyond that as well.

As per a report published by GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb, Microsoft is planning on launching a streaming device in the coming year that’ll plug into TVs and allow users to stream games to it directly, while also allowing streaming of movie and TV services. The device, according to Grubb, will look like an Amazon Fire Stick or a small Roku-like puck.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is also allegedly partnering with Samsung to making an Xbox streaming app for Samsung smart TVs. Both the app and the streaming device are expected to launch in the coming months, as per Grubb, and both are part of Microsoft’s “Xbox Everywhere” initiative (which also entails the recent addition of Fortnite to Xbox Cloud Gaming).

Of course, it’ll be interesting to see when and where Microsoft will choose to unveil these plans, but if 12 months is indeed the window we’re looking at, it shouldn’t be too much of a wait one way or another.
