2.5 Suit up; it’s time to check out the best Marvel Xbox 360 games of all time!
That’s right, folks – it’s time for a dose of superhero action as we take to the skies, the streets and the sewers while thwarting bad guys and saving the world.
It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it.
With major films and cartoon series featuring our favourite heroes sweeping the globe, the Xbox 360 took on the mantle of hosting many of them in game form for home-gaming pleasure.
Until you’ve smashed up a bus or thrown a Vibranium shield from the comfort of your safe, you haven’t really lived.
So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the best Marvel games for Microsoft’s quintessential console.
Remember, with great power, comes great responsibility… and the need to purchase some of the best Xbox 360 accessories while you’re at it.
10. Spider-Man 3 (2007)
Spider-Man 3 kickstarts this list of the best Marvel Xbox 360 games of all time, bringing with it all the the thrills and skills of Toby McGuires 3rd movie in the original Trilogy.
And I don’t care how many films have come out since, these original films are still the greatest. Though knowing they came out in 2007 makes me feel really old…
The explorative features really stand out in this game, even amongst the masses of open-world games that have dropped in recent years. Ok, so it’s not open-ended by any stretch of the imagination, but having the ability to swing through massive cities, dive into sewers, and climb to massive heights never gets old.
Ok, so the film doesn’t have all the enemies in it that there are in the game, but that makes the game even more exciting. I mean, instead of just going up against goblin features, there’s also The Lizard, Kingpin, and the humongous Rhino.
I love Spider-Man 3 because of the fact we have the chance to play with the Symbiote costume too. It’s weird seeing Spider going from being the people’s champion to the scourge of the city when he changes, but playing in the Symbiote suit is way more fun!
9. Thor: God of Thunder (2011)
Final getting to play as Thor: God of Thunder was a real treat. Let’s face it, Thor is everyone’s favourite Marvel character, and thanks to Love & Thunder, he’s sealed himself a spot in the greatest Superhero Movies list of all time.
Heading back to the Xbox, this epic Xbox 360 title sees players stepping into the world of Asgard as Thor tries to save his realm from Loki’s meddling.
And yeah, kicking back enemies with Mjolnir is a thrill like no other!
Hurling Mjolnir into hordes of enemies continually running toward you as you wield lightening and thunder powers while travelling between Asgardian realms.
It’s all a little dark and moody, a little like a DC movie (don’t tell anyone I said that), creating a serious feeling of suspense as you move through each of the levels.
If you’re looking for one of the best Marvel Xbox 360 games for de-stressing and blowing off steam, then give God of Thunder a try. It’ll put a massive smile on your face!
8. X-Men: The Official Game (2008)
X-Men: The Official Game is up next, one of the best Marvel Xbox 360 games for fans of Professor X’s crime-fighting mutant heroes.
If you’re a fan of mediums that bridge gaps between films (I’m thinking the Clone Wars series or the cartoons that link the First and Second Christopher Nolan Batman movies), then you’re in for a treat.
This X-Men title, Wolverine, Night Crawler, and Iceman take a trip back to Alkali Lake and find parts of Cerebro and the news that someone is plotting to destroy all the mutants.
Button-mash and slash as Wolverine, go free-play as Night Crawler, and fly as Iceman. Each character has specific bosses and enemies to fight, with their own unique abilities helping you to experience the game in three different ways!
The X-Men tend to get a little forgotten in the wake of the Avengers these days, but Wolverine and co will always rank highly on my Marvel list.
And besides, once you get to title 6 below, you’re gonna’ want Wolverine on your side for what’s to come!
7. Iron Man (2008)
Iron Man takes the 7th spot in our list of the best Marvel Xbox 360 games with his maiden game based on the very first movie.
Play as billionaire Tony Stark as you follow the plot of the movie; building a suit to escape terrorists, working on your suit to stop the company that you made your millions with, and ultimately becoming a one-man-army.
It sounds counter productive, but that’s how Tony rolls.
Robert Downey Jr does voice acting for the game, even through new levels and scenarios that don’t appear in the movie.
Play through 12 different stages fighting cool enemies like Titanium Man as you soar through the air working through many different iterations of Iron Man’s suit as you go.
Upgrade with missiles and other projectiles, fire EMPs, blast a flame thrower, and much much more.
6. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (2006)
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance takes the 6th spot in our best Marvel Xbox 360 games of all time, bringing an RPG with a twist to the table.
The MCU universe is massive with so many characters to pick and choose from, and pairing them all together an epic RPG where X-Men and the Avengers work together side-by-side while smacking back enemies is the ultimate experience.
As with all RPGs, there’s a whole bunch of different endings for you to choose from depending on which team members you put in your team.
That means a different surprise every time you play. What a result!
I mean, seeing Captain America and Wolverine joining forces makes me feel like a kid in the playground again! I wonder if it’s acceptable to dress up as Wolverine while writing articles in a coffee shop?
5. Marvel Super Hero Squad: The Infinity Gauntlet (2010)
Marvel Super Hero Squad: The Infinity Gauntlet is one of the most exciting games I ever had for the Xbox 360. If you’ve played the cartoon ever (which let’s face it, we all should have), then seeing your favourite miniature superheroes kicking ass and fighting crime will bring you so much happiness.
Yeah, this game definitely gets the Dodo Dopamine tick of approval!
Players can choose from Thor, Spider Man, Iron Man, and all of the usual characters from the wider MCU. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to stop Dr Doom and Thanos from teaming up to get the infinity stones and destroy the world.
And well all know how that turned out for the Avengers, right?
While the game has a free play mode that lets you play as any character, the Story Mode is the best part of this game by far. It’s got all of the subtle nuances that you might find in a LEGO game, feeling and playing like it could slot into the franchise easily.
The cartoon was super funny, and the game mimics the humorous antics perfectly. It’s even better when two players team up to play together two!
And if all else fails, there are a bunch of mini games you can play while taking a break from the main action. Iron Man’s gotta take a load off sometime, right?
4. Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions (2010)
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is still a tour de force. Even now, 12 years later at the time of writing, it’s an amazing title that is definitely worth checking out if you missed the Xbox 360 the first time around.
After battling with Mysterio, Spidey breaks something called the Tablet of Order and Chaos. Even if you don’t know anything about this item, you can pretty much guarantee that breaking it is going to have some dire consequences for everyone involved.
Enter three different Spiders from three different universes to help the Amazing Spiderman with his challenge.
That’s right, along with the blue and red classic web crawler suit, we’ve got Noir Spiderman, Ultimate Spiderman, and Spiderman 2099 joining the fray!
They’ve all got new abilities to bring into the fight and unique skills (kind of like Liam Neeson) that can help to fix the ruckus caused by the broken tablet and restore order to the world.
You can get through this title by just button mashing, but it’s much more exciting if you pull off proper combos against the likes of Green Goblin, Hammerhead, and the usual henchmen as you move from level to level.
I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it!
3. The Incredible Hulk (2008)
The Incredible Hulk with Edward Norton is another one of my favourite Marvel movies, and the game based on the movie is a worthy winner of today’s bronze medal.
We all know the the Hulk is strong, but when you play this game and begin smashing stuff up left, right, and centre, you actually begin to realise just how insanely powerful he is.
And yeah, having that kind of power in your fingertips feels unreal!
