1-2-Switch is Getting a Sequel This Year – Rumour

Nintendo’s first party is healthier than it’s ever been (which is really saying something), with a number of major Nintendo franchises having enjoyed some of their best ever critical and commercial reception on the Switch, while new experimental titles – like Ring Fit Adventure, for instance – have also enjoyed impressive success. In the latter category though, not all experiments have worked out.

1-2-Switch was one of the Switch’s launch titles, and as a multiplayer party game meant to highlight the HD Rumble (i.e. haptic feedback) capabilities of the Switch’s Joy-con controllers, it wasn’t exactly reaching for the skies. For that and more reasons, it wasn’t very well received by critics and most players- though it seems it may have sold well enough to warrant a sequel.

In a recently published blog, Nintendo insider Zippo claimed that a 1-2-Switch sequel is currently in the works and will launch this year. What the game will entail, how it will build on its predecessor, or when exactly it’ll release hasn’t been mentioned. Interestingly, as VGC points out, earlier this year, fellow Nintendo insider Emily Rogers also hinted at an upcoming sequel to a casual Switch game due out this year that may have been 1-2-Switch.

As for when it’ll be announced, that remains to be seen. Rumours have suggested a Nintendo Direct presentation is scheduled for this month, so if that does indeed happen, we might hear something there. Either way, stay tuned for updates.
