Welcome back everyone.  Thank you for stopping by to check out the latest TF. You can also find me here: @comic_book_true_firsts

Nickelodeon Magazine August, 2005

First comic for Avatar the Last Airbender

I don’t think I have ever included this one here.  I have been working on tracking down all the comics released prior to the perceived first for years.  A little help from a friend led me to finally pinpoint which issue this comic appeared in. This predates the comic first, the 2007 DVD mini. Newsstands will have a barcode and subscription editions have the label printed right on the cover making each one unique. This isn’t the first time Nickelodeon has been featured here. Invader Zim and Spongebob  fans you might want to do some digging.

Look In 8

First comic appearance of Colt Seavers; The Fall Guy

Why would anyone care about Lee Majors’ old show? A Ryan Gosling/Emily Blunt remake might do the trick. Look In published a myriad of television comic adaptations including a long running Fall Guy!

Weekly Shonen Jump 890, Knights of the Zodiac Manga Vol. 1, 2003

First appearance of Saint Seiya

Sean Bean’s live action Knights of the Zodiac is coming in 2023.

—–OTHER STUFF—–

This section is reserved for all the other stuff I am looking for this week. True Firsts may or may not appear.

ALF 4

You might have missed this from the excellent I am Groot Animated shorts that were just released on Disney+.  We know Starlord was an ALF fan thanks to the appearance of Bouillabaisseball but now we learned that he brought at least one comic with him to space, Alf 4!  That firmly puts this series into MCU canon, but only a newsstand.

Skybound X 25E

I gotta be honest, of all the cover I dig the Ottley the most.

Squadron Supreme 1:35 Gary Frank Variant ( 2006 )

I never understood why this comic remains so cheap. Maybe now it will see some love from the speculative community.

NOTE: For transparency’s sake, I have a few of these in some box somewhere!

Star Wars: Tag and Bink Were Here Marvel Edition / Transformers UK 284

These are repeat mentions from me because they are now currently relevant.  This reprint of the Dark Horse Tag and Bing One-Shot ends up being the first US comic by Marvel to feature Predator thanks to his inclusion in an old Star Wars Tales comic. The Transformers issue is a rarity with  Predator on the cover making it the first Marvel Appearance overall.

The Flash 784

There’s a lot of firsts in this one including Night-Flash!  I am a sucker for post-apocalyptic worlds so this was a must buy.

Comic Book Creator Powell Cover

Star Wars Rogue Squadron 32

First appearance of General Airen Cracken

Someone mentioned this on IG a while back and I think it is a good addition to any speculative Star Wars box. The General does have recent Marvel appearances.

Looking for an Interview with the Vampire preview, here ya go. It might just be the first appearance of Anne Rice too.

See you next week!
