– Via Collider, Titan Comics have announced “Blade Runner 2039,” by writer Mike Johnson, artist Andres Guinaldo, and colorist Marco Lesko. The 12-issue book will conclude the story of the Blade Runner known as Aahna “Ash” Ashina, who debuted in 2019’s “Blade Runner 2019,” as she clashes with Luv―Niander, Wallace’s deadly “First Angel,” first seen in Blade Runner 2049. Titan will release the book with four variant covers by Junggeun Yoon, Veronica Fish, Butch Guice, and Syd Mead respectively. “Blade Runner 2039” will debut in December.

– Via Newsarama, Oni-Lion Forge Publishing Group have announced “Rick and Morty vs. Cthulhu,” a four-part limited series written by Jim Zub, with art by Troy Little, colors from Leonardo Ito, and lettering by Crank! The comic will see Rick and Morty come face to face with cosmic horror, with the publisher describing the series as “a Lovecraftian hellscape,” where the duo fight “cosmic sentient color and racist fish-people.” Referring to H.P. Lovecraft’s racism, Zub says, “Rick and Morty ask equally pertinent questions about ourselves, our existence, and the jerks who create our pop culture, so I figured it was time to peanut butter that chocolate and take a big bite.” “Rick and Morty vs. Cthulhu Part 1: The Whisperer in the Darkness” will be available December 7, 2022.
– Via The Beat, the National Cartoonists Society held their great gala this past weekend for the Reuben Awards 2022, and illustrator Edward Sorel received the Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year Award. Sorel, who’s 93, has previously been featured in The Nation, New York Magazine and The Atlantic. More recently though, his work can be found in Vanity Fair. A pre-recorded speech was played during the awards, where Sorel said, “Now that I have this prestigious award from you, perhaps the idiots who keep coming up to me and asking whether I do ‘serious’ paintings on the weekend [can stop]. ‘Serious paintings’ – but why anybody would want to do serious paintings is beyond me. Anyway thanks for this award.” You can read more about the Reuben Awards 2022 here.
– Marvel Games have teamed up with Motive Studio to collaborate on an all-new single-player, third-person, action-adventure Iron Man video game. The game will feature an original story. We have a lot of freedom, which is so engaging for the team.” The game is currently in the early development stages, with more details to follow.

For an applicant to qualify, their store must be located in the U.S., and either be a brick-and-mortar store, with a portion of their revenue coming from in-store comic sales, or a mobile or pop-up store that is an ongoing concern and is staffed and open to the general public for at least 30 hours a week. The application is currently up and running now, and must be completed by 5 p.m. ET on October 3, 2022. During the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, Binc distributed over $950,000 to comics retailers, and they also have given $1.1 million in “Survive to Thrive” grants that help independent bookstores and comic shops.

– Stargirl actress Brec Bassinger shared a picture on Twitter, showing her with Geoff Johns, Ryan Potter and Eric Dean Seaton on the set of the CW show. – Finally, via Kotaku, Kyle McCarley, the English voice actor for protagonist Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama in Mob Psycho 100, revealed he won’t be reprising his role in the third season of the anime, alleging Crunchyroll does not want to pay him the terms of a SAG-AFTRA union contract. Crunchyroll responded in a statement ignoring McCarley’s claims, saying that the role was recast to produce the simuldub as soon as possible. “We’ll be producing the English dub at our Dallas production studios, and to accomplish this seamlessly per our production and casting guidelines, we will need to recast some roles. We’re excited for fans to enjoy the new voice talent and greatly thank any departing cast for their contributions to previous seasons.” Mob Psycho 100 is due to premiere on October 5.
